The Archaeology and Ancient Sciences Laboratory (Archéologies et Sciences de Antiquité ArScAn; UMR 7041) and MSH Mondes (UAR 3225) have been organising an annual masterclass since 2017 for researchers applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF).
The aim is to prepare young colleagues, pre-selected on the basis of a draft proposal, to submit an application to the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship programme, which is dedicated to strengthening researchers’ career paths through international mobility, and to welcome them to the ArScAn laboratory to carry out their research and training programme.
During this masterclass, successful candidates will benefit from several personalised discussions about their project with their future scientific supervisor, scientific experts (mentors) and representatives from the research support services of each host institution: the CNRS (DR5), the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Paris Nanterre.
These one-to-one sessions alternate with public presentations on the various components of the application, the host organisations, support structures for European projects, the Marie Curie fellowship evaluation process, as well as certain key aspects of the application such as the question of open science. Each year, the masterclass also benefits from the presence of one or more Marie Curie grant holders who come to share their experiences both as applicants and as grant recipients.
Furthermore, candidates take advantage of their time on site to familiarise themselves with the support services at MSH Mondes (archives, library, etc.) and to meet the researchers and engineers with whom they will be able to collaborate and work during their project.
The masterclass is organised by:
- Cécile Michel, CNRS Research Director, historian and archaeologist specialising in the Near East and cuneiform script, ArScAn, UMR 7041
- Nicolas Coquet, CNRS research engineer, head of the Digital Humanities and Data (DHUNE) division, MSH Mondes, UAR 3225
- Marina Egidi, research engineer at the University of Paris Nanterre, scientific support and partnerships officer, MSH Mondes, UAR 3225
In collaboration with the research support services of the host institutions:
- Partnership and Commercialisation Service, CNRS, Île-de-France West & North Delegation (DR5)
- Directorate of Research and Commercialisation, University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
- Head of the Commercialisation and Research Support Service, University of Paris Nanterre
